Mark Wielga has extensive involvement in Nomogaia’s fieldwork and brings expertise in human rights law as well as industry-specific knowledge. He has over twenty years of direct experience with human rights, including working pro bono with death row inmates in Texas, USA and teaching human rights law at the University of Denver. Before earning a J.D. from the University of Chicago he spent two years volunteering in the Peace Corps. in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo). His work, as a Nomogaia Director and as a lawyer, has taken him to five continents, where he has addressed issues involving environmental, social, health and natural resource issues.

Elizabeth Wise has been publicly advocating for human rights protection for nearly two decades, both as a journalist and as a public relations consultant. Writing for the Economist, Financial Times, AP and Reuters, human rights were central in her work in conflict zones. Wise has tackled such critical issues as the Rwanda genocide, the creation of the WTO, and peace talks in the Sudan. Since 2004, she has been working with multinational corporations to  examine their workplace and community policies for responsible solutions to complex social issues. She has lived and worked in Europe, Africa and the U.S. and speaks fluent French and Italian.

Blair Kanis is an attorney with experience in corporate law and international human rights.  She is an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where she teaches the Alien Tort Statute.  Her past work includes community organizing, particularly in El Salvador and Ecuador, and research in Chile.  She speaks fluent Spanish.

Kendyl Salcito developed her expertise in human rights and business as a foreign reporter in Southeast Asia and North America. She has advised industry groups on corporate human rights performance and contributed to the development of the UN’s Guidance Principles for Human Rights and Business. Outside of NomoGaia, she writes research notes for CO2 Scorecard and conducts corporate HRIAs for environmental consulting firm NewFields. She holds an MA in Journalism from the University of British Columbia and a BA in History from Princeton University and is a PhD candidate at the Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute in the Epidemiology department.
